Employee Benefits

TTI employees can choose from several health coverage options offered by the Texas A&M University System for themselves and their families, as well as numerous other benefit programs. Employees are automatically enrolled in the Teacher Retirement System on their first day of employment. Employees who are faculty members or in certain administrative positions, may instead elect to participate in the Optional Retirement Program. View the Texas A&M University System benefits.

Example Compensation Package

Below is an example total compensation package based on the Texas A&M University System pay scale for an Assistant Research Scientist with a starting salary of $39.06 hourly; $6,250.00 monthly; $75,000.00 annually.

  • Vacation Accrual (minimum)
    8 hours per month x $39.06 = $312.48 per month

  • Sick Leave Accrual (standard)
    8 hours per month x $39.06 = $312.48 per month

  • Holiday Leave (average)
    8 hours per month x $39.06 = $312.48 per month

  • Insurance Contribution
    Member only coverage: $676.67 per month

  • TRS Retirement
    7.7% x $6,250.00 = $481.25 per month

  • State Social Security Contributions
    6.2% x $6,250.00 = $387.50 per month

  • Longevity
    An additional $20 per month for every two full years of state service will be added to your monthly salary.

Total Estimated Benefit = $2,482.86 per month; $29,794.32 per year
