Jason Crawford, regional manager of the North Texas Region at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) in Arlington, has been selected as a member of the LeadershipITE Class of 2014, the program’s inaugural class.
LeadershipITE is a new program from the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE). The Class of 2014 consists of 30 members from 16 states, Washington, D.C., and Canada. LeadershipITE’s mission is “to identify, develop, and engage leaders to ensure that ITE and its members are positioned to engage and shape the future of transportation.”
The program is highly intensive. All members will attend nine months of workshops and conferences and work on projects that focus on issues and obstacles transportation professionals face today. The members are expected to develop leadership skills for solving transportation challenges in the real world. The program’s kickoff was held November 7-9, 2013, and the workshops begin in March 2014.
Michael Sanderson, chair of the Leadership ITE Committee, said the Class of 2014 members are a group of special individuals. “The inaugural class of LeadershipITE is representative of the best and brightest of our profession, and it is certain to be a unique and special experience for everyone involved,” Sanderson says.
Crawford says he is honored to have been selected as a member of the inaugural LeadershipITE class.
“I am very much looking forward to working with my class peers and learning more about leadership styles and applications over the course of this program,” Crawford notes. “I expect lessons learned through LeadershipITE to continue my growth as a leader within both ITE and TTI.”
ITE was founded in 1930 and provides a community for transportation professionals that ranges from engineers to consultants and others. ITE has nearly 17,000 members in more than 90 countries.
