Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) Safety Coordinator Stuart Denner was welcomed home from a Navy Reserves deployment in a reception at the TTI State Headquarters Building on November 8.
Denner, a 15-year veteran in the Reserves, recently returned from a one-year deployment that included a six-month mission aboard the U.S.N.S. Comfort. The humanitarian mission known as “Continuing Promise 2011,” included school house and clinic repair in Jamaica, Peru, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Colombia, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Haiti.
The humanitarian mission was primarily to provide medical and infrastructure support, but Denner noted that several Marines were along as well for construction training.
“I felt very fortunate to have the support of TTI while I was deployed,” said Denner at the reception. “The care packages we received were certainly appreciated by everyone in the unit.”
