Short Biography

Dr. Stockton is deputy agency director and chief research officer at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI). He serves as the designated liaison to the Texas A&M University System vice chancellor for research and oversees TTI's interdisciplinary research activities. Dr. Stockton serves as TTI's principal liaison with the Texas Department of Transportation and provides executive oversight for strategic projects including high-speed rail, transportation safety, economic analysis, funding and financing strategies, and border crossings. He led the Texas 2030 Committee staff support team that produced the definitive needs estimates for long-range transportation investment in Texas. In the last 10 years, Dr. Stockton has focused on projects to develop public policy and decision-support tools for public agencies that address toll roads, high-occupancy vehicle lanes, intelligent transportation systems, long-range transportation needs and international commercial border crossings. His nearly 40 years of public service include executive roles at TTI and at the City of Austin. He is a licensed engineer and an active member of numerous local, state and national professional societies and their committees.
