Draft Warranty Specifications

This research will develop a warranty contracting implementation plan. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) plan will be based on guidelines for warranty contracting developed for the National Cooperative Highway Research Program. These existing guidelines will be modified to fit within the TxDOT design, contracting, and maintenance system. The draft warranty specifications developed for TxDOT Project 0-4498 follow the general format for materials and workmanship warranties. These specifications hold the contractor responsible for correcting defects in work elements during the warranty period resulting from substandard materials and/or workmanship. The draft warranty provisions/specifications were developed following TxDOT procedures/formats. Special Provisions for Item 341, Dense Graded Hot Mix Asphalt (QCQA), Item 316, Surface Treatments, and Item 350, Microsurfacing were developed using TxDOT Standard Specifications for Construction and Maintenance of Highways, Streets, and Bridges (2004).
