Abstract:
The Texas access management outreach materials are designed to help the user give a presentation about access management and tailor that presentation based on desired length and content. The materials include a binder, CD, and DVD:
The binder includes instructions on how to use the CD, a guide to the video clips on the DVD, an access management FAQ, and a print-out of the PowerPoint slides and speaker notes to be used in the presentation. The presentation is separated into content areas, often with both long and short versions. The main areas include: what is access management, why should we use it, economic impacts, safety impacts, mobility, medians, access density, acceleration/deceleration lanes, ramp spacings, signalized intersection spacings, unsignalized intersection spacings, and resources and links.
The CD contains the PowerPoint presentation files that are printed out in the binder.
The DVD, titled "Demonstrating the Benefits of Access Management," contains an 11-minute video about access management for a general audience. It shows the advantages of using access management and the disadvantages of not using it, plus interviews with officials from the Texas Department of Transportation, the City of College Station, and the City of Sugar Land.
