Abstract:
This report is the end product of a follow-on project, sponsored by TTI, to hold a workshop comprised of presenters, Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) representatives, pavement and bridge contractors, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), design consultants, and TTI researchers. Attendees included 15 industry, 12 TxDOT, 2 FHWA, and 13 TTI representatives, and one each from Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), and University of California Davis (UC Davis). This provided a good balance of interests and perspectives on accelerated construction.
The workshop objectives were to 1) identify what is known to effectively accelerate road and bridge construction; 2) identify elements needing research or implementation efforts, and 3) develop a list of research and implementation needs.
