Dr. Damnjanovic is an expert in the area of transportation infrastructure management with a focus on reliability, risk analysis, and quality control/assurance. He has both academic and professional experience in developing risk-based performance models, modeling impact of imperfect maintenance/repair actions on a facility’s remaining life, and determining optimal sampling techniques that consider both spatial and temporal characteristics, cost of inspection, and the value of such information. As nationally recognized expert, Dr. Damnjanovic is involved in a number of national and international committees that set the direction and determine the need for research in infrastructure management. This includes an effort led by the National Research Council (NRC) of the National Academies to assess and predict future uncertain outcomes from investment in federal facilities. The corresponding NRC’s report to the U.S. Congress has outlined the guidelines of how to use risk-based approach for monitoring and managing our nation’s facilities.
