James (Jimmy) Cardenas is an assistant research scientist in the Transit Mobility Program at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute. His research experience includes regional transportation coordination planning, geospatial analyses, GTFS datasets, case study research, survey research, financial analysis, and data analysis, specifically involving National Transit Database (NTD) data and other transit databases.
Jimmy works closely with TxDOT-PTN in their regional public transportation coordination planning efforts. This includes helping to develop a guidebook and tools to update a regional coordination plan, leading annual coordination planning metrics data collection efforts and assisting several regions to develop their own coordination plans. Jimmy also led the effort to create GTFS-static data for Texas transit agencies, ensuring that agencies are compliant with NTD requirements and continues working with agencies to ensure accurate GTFS information.
