Gregory Mather is a human factors researcher specializing in transportation safety, human-automation interaction, and the usability of emerging technologies, particularly in automated and connected vehicle systems. Before joining the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, Gregory led federally sponsored research at Virginia Tech focused on takeover request performance in autonomous vehicles, incorporating simulation design, AI, and interface evaluation. He has also contributed to research in multi aircraft monitoring systems, usability engineering for medical devices, and digital accessibility for individuals with disabilities.
Gregory’s academic background includes a master’s degree in Human Factors from California State University, Long Beach, where he managed research laboratories and conducted usability testing for the Veterans Administration's healthcare technologies, and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from James Madison University. His published work includes research on collision avoidance systems, warning signal design, and human-AI teaming.
