Dr. Galicia has over 20 years of experience in civil engineering, with more than 15 years in the areas of transportation infrastructure, transportation and traffic engineering, transportation planning, transportation demand modeling, transit ridership forecasting, border studies, geographic information systems (GIS), geospatial technology, and project management. Dr. Galicia is currently an Associate Research Scientist at the TTI Dallas Office. In this role, he has managed and collaborated on several projects related to border crossing travel demand modeling, transit ridership forecast, and regional and urban planning. As a Principal Investigator, he has managed and led multiple innovative projects that offer low-cost solutions to integrate regional travel patterns into regional mobility demand for passenger cars, trucks, transit, bicycles, and pedestrians. Dr. Galicia has plenty of experience in the development of GIS-based tools for transportation planning purposes. He has adapted these methods and alternatives specifically for the Binational (Mexico-U.S.),  the El Paso del Norte region, and San Diego-Tijuana, as well as studies involving the U.S.-Canada border. His international experience also includes a comprehensive framework for the analysis of options for a cross-border mass transit service between El Paso and Ciudad Juarez, developing a methodology to produce relevant transport indicators in Latin America (including road safety indicators), and participating as an instructor in the course “Design of Roadside Structures” for graduate civil engineers, faculty members, and transportation professionals at the University of Pristina.

Before joining TTI, Dr. Galicia worked for two years at the Border Intermodal Gateway Transportation Laboratory at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), where he developed guidelines for the improvement of transit and mass transit systems along existing corridors in the State of Texas. In the private sector, Dr. Galicia worked for Calymayor and Associates (C&M), a multinational consulting firm, where he led projects concerning Mexican toll roads forecasting. He has three years of experience as an associate professor at one of the top civil engineering universities in Mexico: the National Polytechnic Institute located in Mexico City where he developed innovative learning techniques and was awarded as best professor in two consecutive years 2004-2005. He is also an Adjunct Professor at UTEP’s College of Civil Engineering and teaching transit planning and technology.

Dr. Galicia's skills in transportation-related software include ArcGIS PRO, ArcGIS Online, TransCAD, TransModeler, TRANUS, VISSIM, VISUM, Synchro, TSIS-CORSIM, and T-BEST.
