Dr. Kong is a researcher with 13 years of experience transportation planning, research, and big data analysis, with 8 years of experience with TTI specializing in mobility analysis. He is a leader in truck parking analytics and use of probe data and has contributed work to many high-profile freight projects such as the FHWA Freight Mobility Trends dashboard project that relies in INRIX truck probe data to show freight performance across the entire National Highway System, the Texas’ 100 Most Congested Roadways, the FHWA Urban Mobility Pooled Fund research, Maryland Truck Parking Implementation and many other analytics. Dr. Kong serves as a major data analyst for the Safe-D UTC: Connected Vehicle Information for Improving Safety Related to Unknown Truck Parking project to determine truck parking demand from INRIX data to develop a method that can allow DOTs to get a reliable understanding of truck parking needs through big data sources like INRIX. He also supports the Maryland Truck Parking Analysis project in analyzing truck parking patterns and public truck parking facility utilization rates, and the Texas Truck Parking Analysis and Visualization project for the analysis and visualization of truck-parking related analytics.
