Emily Martin is an Assistant Research Scientist and Manager of the Road User Safety Program at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute. She uses data and stakeholder input to understand road safety issues, identify risky behaviors and environments, and promote the adoption of safer practices. Her work spans both general and commercial vehicle safety, with a focus on employee drivers and the unique challenges they face.

Emily leads several initiatives, including the Employer Driver Safety Innovation project, which helps organizations integrate safety into daily operations through customized, theory-driven curriculum and program development. She also provides technical assistance to the Texas Strategic Highway Safety Plan and the Texas Traffic Records Coordinating Committee. Her research includes data linkage projects to enhance Texas traffic records, such as integrating unique identifiers into crash and EMS/trauma records and advising on the Texas Impaired Driving Database.

Emily’s expertise includes curriculum development, program evaluation, strategic outreach, crash data analysis, and long-term, multi-site data collection. She is particularly interested in applying public health frameworks to transportation safety, reducing participant response burden, and using data visualization for impactful storytelling.

Emily holds a BS in Health and an MS in Health Education from Texas A&M University.
