Mr. Omar Al-Jaafari is a Software Applications Developer in the Visual Analytics Program at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI). He has over 5 years of educational and work experience in software engineering and full-stack web development with TTI, the Idaho National Laboratory (INL), and Westminster University.
Since joining TTI in May 2024, Mr. Al-Jaafari built, maintained, optimized, and deployed several applications for agencies such as the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Texas Department of Transportation. Those applications range from dashboards to web-based tools to real-time data systems. Examples of use cases include analyzing historical traffic data and understanding real-time wait times for specific roads.
Prior to working with TTI, Mr. Al-Jaafari completed an internship at INL where he developed a containerized an environment for a continuous integration and deployment strategy to support regression testing.
Mr. Al-Jaafari received his B.S. in Computer Science with a minor in Applied Mathematics from Westminster University in 2024, and graduated summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA. He was received the Outstanding Student of the Year Award for Computer Science as well as the campus-wide Trustee’s Character Award, both from Westminster University.
