Short Biography

Chris Pourteau is TTI’s editor-in-chief and the editor of TTI’s flagship publication, Texas Transportation Researcher, which promotes TTI’s research to audiences worldwide. He’s also the editor and producer of the Institute’s podcast, Thinking Transportation, which reaches audiences in approximately 50 countries worldwide.

Mr. Pourteau has three decades of experience in translating technical findings and processes into easily digestible technical articles, executive summaries, manuals, guidebooks, primers, and online training courses. In addition to articles in Researcher, Mr. Pourteau has published TTI’s research findings in STRUCTURE Magazine and Roads and Bridges magazine. As editor-in-chief, he oversees content creation to promote TTI, including media releases, social media content, and formatted email campaigns.

Among other initiatives, he is currently the managing editor for the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT’s) My35 Central Texas News, which promotes construction progress of the I-35 Expansion Project to Texans. As the coordinator of TTI’s Writing and Content Development team, Mr. Pourteau supervises two professional writers and two technical editors; oversees social media post content creation for distribution on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn; coordinates the development of research factsheets and other specialty publications; and serves as TTI’s Intranet webmaster. In the early 2000s, Mr. Pourteau pioneered TTI’s efforts to convert its print inventory of research reports to PDF format and helped set the editorial standards adopted statewide by TxDOT for its research program. Mr. Pourteau is also an expert in designing content for traditional and online training materials and has created guidebooks and web-based course content for local, state, and federal sponsors aimed at lay, legislative, and practitioner audiences.
