Short Biography
Hong Yu is the team leader for TTI Communications' Library Services group, overseeing the library's operation and providing research support to TTI researchers through literature searches and acquisition. Hong joined TTI as a research librarian in 1998. She has managed the day-to-day operation of the National Work Zone Safety Information Clearinghouse since then. As the clearinghouse coordinator and website manager, she has been responsible for gathering information, responding to information requests, managing the clearinghouse listserv, working closely with programmers to develop the clearinghouse databases and the website, and maintaining the website on an ongoing basis. The Clearinghouse has received numerous awards including the 2008 International Road Federation's Global Road Achievement Awards, and it is considered by many to be the world's largest resource on roadway construction safety. In addition to her work in the library and the work zone safety clearinghouse, she has developed databases and websites for several transportation research and technology transfer projects. She is also responsible for maintenance of the library portion of TTI's Intranet.
Prior to her experience at TTI, she was the Staff Instruction Librarian in Sterling C. Evans Library at the Texas A&M University. She developed a new employee orientation program, coordinated with subject specialists and database vendors for specialized training, and provided regular training sessions to librarians and staff on electronic resources. She also served as a faculty liaison to the Department of Recreation, Parks & Tourism.
