What We Do
Evaluate Mobility Performance
Decision makers need to understand how well transportation systems function and what impacts projects and policies have on system performance. We provide rigorous analyses to evaluate effects of past, present, and future projects and policies have on transportation systems.
Tell Stories with Data
As agencies work to do more with less, telling their stories through data is more important than ever. Whether an organization has five or 300 staff members, we offer tools and guidance to help showcase impact, performance and progress. In a data-rich world, making sense of it all can be overwhelming — so we develop innovative methods to harness both existing and emerging data sources. Our customized tools help agencies answer complex questions and evaluate the impacts of past, present and future projects and policies on transportation systems.
Maximize Transit and Shared Mobility
Public transit and other shared mobility options help drive economic development and improve peoples’ access to opportunity and critical services. We help transportation providers and decision makers maximize transit and shared mobility effectiveness, efficiency, safety and benefit while navigating the complex world of compliance, funding and reporting.
Engagement
We help agencies engage with their stakeholders through intentional and measurable public engagement, so they can develop event plans, design and construct projects, and adopt new policies and technologies with the communities they are intended to serve.
Our Focus Areas
Community Coordination
Bringing people together to shape transportation solutions that work for everyone.
Special Event Traffic Management
Keeping large crowds and traffic moving safely and efficiently during major events.
System Performance
Measuring and improving how transportation networks operate every day.
Planning and Operations
We use advanced tools and data to develop smart, data-driven plans that translate real-world improvements in safety, reliability and mobility.
Transportation Demand Management
Reducing congestion by helping people choose smarter ways to travel.
Freight Movement
Supporting the economy by improving the safe and efficient flow of goods.
Access and Mobility
We analyze transportation challenges to enhance travel options and community connectivity, improving how people move safely and efficiently.
Our Work

Bush-Wellborn Crossing
Relieving one of Texas’ fastest-growing bottlenecks to keep College Station moving. This project supports long-term mobility solutions for a rapidly growing community and campus.

Kyle Field Transportation Plan
Helping gameday crowds move smoothly to and from Aggieland. The plan focuses on efficient travel strategies before and after the game to reduce congestion and delays.

Urban Mobility Report
Providing a clear picture of traffic congestion in 494 urban areas across the United States, the Urban Mobility Report helps decision-makers understand where delays occur and how to fix them. Backed by the latest crowdsourced data, it offers practical solutions for reducing gridlock nationwide.

Texas' Top 100 Congested Roadway Segments
Identifying the most congested roadways in Texas, the Top 100 Congested Road Segments Report helps state leaders prioritize critical mobility improvements. Using the latest traffic data, the report tracks where delays are rising and how congestion affects drivers, shippers, and the Texas economy.

Transit Cost Allocation Calculator
TTI helped simplify a complex federal reporting requirement by developing the Two-Variable Cost Allocation Calculator for the National RTAP. This easy-to-use tool helps transit agencies efficiently allocate costs, manage grants, and plan new services with less time and effort.

Texas Bicycle and Pedestrian Count Exchange
TTI partnered with TxDOT to develop the Texas Bicycle and Pedestrian Count Exchange, making it easier to manage and share active transportation data statewide. This collaborative system helps communities improve planning by providing access to reliable, consistent count data.

Mobility Improvement Strategies
TTI’s Mobility Improvement Strategies tool helps users quickly narrow down a long list of congestion-reduction options to those most relevant to their specific challenges. It also highlights how selected strategies connect and complement one another for greater impact.

Support of Urban Mobility Analyses
Since 1998, TTI has led the nation’s longest-running study on urban mobility challenges and solutions. Through the Support for Urban Mobility Analyses (SUMA) project, TTI works with state and federal partners to explore emerging mobility data sources, develop performance measures, and share best practices for improving transportation system performance.

Performance Based Planning and Programming
TTI’s Mobility Division supports state DOTs and MPOs with training and workshops on Performance-Based Planning and Programming. These sessions help agencies meet federal requirements by setting meaningful goals, measures, and targets while promoting transparency and informed decision-making.
