The Waco Office serves as a strategic hub in Central Texas, with a focus on applied research and collaboration with sponsors like the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration. Nestled along the Brazos River, Waco has evolved into a vibrant city with Baylor University anchoring its cultural legacy for over 170 years. The recent investment of over $2 billion by TxDOT into I-35 reconstruction and regional projects has reshaped Waco’s infrastructure. In response, TxDOT has enlisted the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) to leverage its expertise in cutting-edge and applied research.
The TTI Waco Office actively engages in applied research, focusing on the implementation of findings, with specific emphasis on smart work zones, mobility coordination and human trafficking awareness. Prioritizing these areas, the office aligns TTI’s research efforts with Waco’s ongoing evolution, emphasizing safety, reliability and economic considerations during and after construction.
