Senior Research Engineer Ginger Goodin and Assistant Transportation Researcher Sarah Overmyer of the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) have proposed two panels for the South by Southwest Conference to be held March 10-19, 2017, in Austin, Texas. Both panels examine how technology and transportation intersect to impact our quality of life.
Self-Driving Cars and the Policy Maze looks at how public policy must balance public and private interests to implement advanced technologies like self-driving cars on tomorrow’s roadways. Goodin, director of TTI’s Transportation Policy Research Center, and other panel experts will lay out the many sticking points involved with public and private interests, potential areas for collaboration, and how progress can be made in the new Congress.
Drop It Like It’s Hot: Delivery in a Digital Age, Overmyer’s panel, will discuss how it’s often the last leg of package delivery that’s the most complicated. The convenience of online shopping and the demand for fast delivery require original thinking to get past that final bottleneck before products reach consumers.
