Texas A&M Transportation Institute Associate Research Engineer Jason Crawford was recently elected to serve as the Texas District director to the Institute of Transportation Engineer’s (ITE) International Board of Direction. The term is from January 1, 2015, to December 31, 2017.
Crawford, who has been an ITE member since 1989, will be working with the 17-member board to develop policy and establish budgets for the operation of ITE. There are eight districts within the United States (and Canada and the rest of the globe) that meet in person four times a year.
According to Crawford, among the challenges the board will face is to define what ITE is in the coming 5 to 10 years that will define how the board selects a new CEO once the current one retires in 2015 and the new CEO’s replacement for three other senior positions.
“Selecting the right CEO is very critical to our Institute’s success and making our vision become a reality,” said Crawford. “It’s a huge honor to be nominated and elected to this position.”
ITE is an international educational and scientific association of transportation professionals who are responsible for meeting mobility and safety needs. ITE facilitates the application of technology and scientific principles for research, planning, functional design, implementation, operation, policy development and management for any mode of ground transportation.
