Come ride along and tell us what you think
As part of the Campus Transportation Technology Initiative, the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI)—in partnership with Texas A&M Transportation Services and Texas A&M University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering—is testing a self-driving shuttle to improve campus mobility. TTI invites students, the local community and members of the media to come out, ride along and provide feedback on the experience as part of its study testing the efficacy of the self-driving shuttle on campus. The route will take riders from the West Campus Garage to Kyle Field.
The experience will last approximately 30 minutes and is open to anyone over the age of 18 who has a valid driver license. Participants are encouraged to bring family and friends to ride along with them. While the shuttle can and will drive itself, a trained driver will be present in the vehicle at all times while the vehicle is in motion and will stop the vehicle or take over in case an unusual event occurs. After the ride, TTI will ask participants to fill out a survey about the experience and offer their thoughts on using autonomous shuttles on campus in the future.
