The Texas Impaired Driving Task Force (TxIDTF) is dedicated to eliminating impaired driving across the state. Comprised of law enforcement, prosecution, prevention, advocacy, media development/communications and more, the task force works diligently to combat one of the leading causes of traffic fatalities in Texas. To honor those making significant contributions to this mission, TxIDTF, in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation, annually presents the Texas Impaired Driving Safety Awards.
These awards recognize individuals and organizations who go above and beyond to enhance road safety. The awards are presented at the Texas Impaired Driving Forum, an event that brings together experts, stakeholders and community leaders to discuss the latest strategies in impaired driving prevention. The Texas Impaired Driving Forum is a free, one-day event that provides insights into ongoing efforts to reduce impaired driving incidents. The next Forum will be held in early 2025, and is open to the public, offering an opportunity for networking and collaboration.
Christine Adams, assistant research scientist at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, highlights the importance of these awards: “The Texas Impaired Driving Safety Awards are an opportunity to honor the passion and dedication of individuals and organizations who diligently work to reduce the harms associated with impaired driving. These individuals and organizations are making a real impact on Texas roadways and in our communities. Their efforts are crucial to improved outcomes in our ongoing fight against impaired driving.”
Nominations for the Texas Impaired Driving Safety Awards are now open and will be accepted until November 30, 2024. This is an excellent opportunity to spotlight those making a difference in traffic safety—whether they are colleagues, community leaders or organizations.
