Short Biography

Dr. Chaudhary has served as Principal Investigator on projects with a total budget of over $1.5 million and as Principle Researcher on projects with funds totaling over $1 million. He is the Principal developer of PASSER IV, MAXBAND-89T, and MAXBAND-86 programs for network signal timing optimization. In addition, Dr. Chaudhary has been a key member of teams that developed and are developing PASSER III signal timing optimization package, and RAMBO II software for ramp metering optimization. He developed efficient heuristic methods to optimize mixed integer programs for traffic signal timing optimization in traffic networks. This allowed the transfer of signal timing optimization technology from main-frame computers to personal computers. Dr. Chaudhary has experience with data collection, statistical analysis and numerous simulation software. He is currently developing a version of PASSER IV for real-time use and a version that directly links with FHWA's CORSIM simulation software.
