Short Biography
Mr. Madhusudhan Venugopal Head of TTI’s Air Quality and Environment Division, brings over 20 years of expertise in regional air quality planning. His extensive experience spans the development of emission inventories for both on-road and non-road sources, coupled with in-depth project-level air quality analysis. Mr. Venugopal is adept at navigating the intricacies of regulatory frameworks and has extensive experience with emissions and dispersion models such as MOVES, NONROAD, AEDT, AERMOD, CAL3QHC, and CALINE. His contributions extend to federal and state transportation agencies, air agencies, and metropolitan planning organizations, where he has played a pivotal role in emission inventory development for crucial regulatory requirements like Transportation Conformity and State Implementation Plan. A cornerstone of Mr. Venugopal's work shows his dedication to advancing emissions inventory methodologies. He has spearheaded initiatives aimed at refining EI through innovative approaches, including the integration of telematics data sets from sources like INRIX and WEJO. His project portfolio boasts notable accomplishments, such as the enhancement of on-road link-based EI and the refinement of heavy-duty idling activity profiles in Texas.
Moreover, Mr. Venugopal's leadership extends beyond project management; he actively fosters collaboration and knowledge exchange as the convener of the Texas Technical Working Group on Mobile Source Emissions (TWG). Through quarterly meetings, he facilitates a platform for Texas' air quality stakeholders to engage in proactive discussions and coordinate interagency processes effectively. Mr. Venugopal is an active member of the Transportation Research Board Committees on Marine Environment, Environmental Issues in Transportation Law, and Environmental Issues in Aviation.
