Short Biography
Alicia Nelson is a Research Specialist II for the Behavior Research Program within Texas A&M Transportation Institute's (TTI) Center for Transportation Safety. Mrs. Nelson earned her B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. After 2 years of working as an instructor of mechanical systems at Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX, Mrs. Nelson joined the Center for Transportation Safety Human Factor's program to aid in the development and usage of the Center's Driving Simulator where her primary task was the development, scheduling, and execution of simulator studies. Mrs. Nelson obtained her Child Passenger Safety certification in 2012, and in 2015, she transferred to the Behavior Research Program to continue developing an expertise in child passenger safety and observational surveys. During her time at TTI, on-going projects have required Mrs. Nelson to learn and use several graphics related software programs to create various signs, fonts, and images. She has assisted in the design, execution and write-ups for multiple human factors, traffic signs, and child passenger safety studies and was published as Alicia Williams prior to 2008. Mrs. Nelson frequently handles participant recruitment and has assisted other researchers at TTI with experimental design, data collection and data reductions, for a broad range of traffic control device and behavior research studies.
