Short Biography
Dr. Eisele is a recognized expert in the areas of mobility analysis, freight mobility, urban freight transportation, performance measurement and access management. For nearly 30 years, Dr. Eisele has performed research for a variety of public-agency and industry sponsors.
Dr. Eisele currently serves as Associate Agency Director and Research Group Lead of TTI’s Planning Group. In this role, he oversees five (5) divisions at TTI – Mobility; Data Science and Visualization; Policy Analysis; Freight and Trade; and Metropolitan and Statewide Planning. Dr. Eisele and his team thoroughly enjoy providing practical analyses and transportation solutions to their numerous sponsors!
Dr. Eisele leads a multi-year TxDOT interagency contract “Freight Planning Branch Support Activities” where he and his team provide technical assistance on several tasks all with the goal of improving freight movement throughout Texas. He is also a co-author on TTI's Urban Mobility Report, which provides mobility statistics and trends for metropolitan areas throughout the United States. Dr. Eisele previously led a Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) pooled fund study of 18 state departments of transportation, Washington D.C. DOT and FHWA on the topic of urban mobility.
Dr. Eisele has been active with the Transportation Research Board (TRB) throughout his career, and he currently serves as Chair of the Freight Systems Group providing leadership on the Technical Advisory Council for the eight (8) Freight Systems Committees. He previously served TRB as Chair of the Urban Freight Transportation Committee for two (2) terms. He is a registered professional engineer in Texas and Michigan, and he is a certified Project Management Professional. He was honored with the Texas A&M University System Regents Fellow Service Award for 2022-2023.
Dr. Eisele serves on the Graduate Faculty of Texas A&M University, and he is an Instructional Professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning (LAUP) where he teaches a hand's-on capstone transportation planning studio course.
Dr. Eisele actively seeks opportunities to communicate practical research results to help others. He has over 100 publications, and he has been an instructor for well over 400 adult-learning activities (webinars, workshops, conferences, university courses).
