Short Biography
Mr. Jonathan Tydlacka has over 20 years of experience in many areas of traffic and transportation engineering. He has worked extensively in the areas of traffic operations, traffic control devices, traffic safety, and micro-simulation modeling, and his work has included research on freeways, frontage roads, arterials, and intersections (including alternative intersection types and roundabouts).
Mr. Tydlacka has extensive experience with before and after studies, crash analyses, micro-simulation modeling, and the completion of numerous construction-related road user cost evaluations. He has led efforts in evaluating the traffic safety and operational impacts of over height vehicle detection systems (OVDS), lighted in-pavement markers, and LED-enhanced traffic signal backplates. He also led a project that developed guidelines for the design and operation for U-Turn lanes.
Mr. Tydlacka is also deeply knowledgeable with the methods, procedures, and devices used in many types of traffic data collection, and he routinely develops, plans, and manages numerous traffic data collection efforts in the Houston area as well as in other areas of Texas. His additional interests include intelligent transportation systems, traffic signals, freeway safety, freeway operations, intersection safety, and intersection operations.
