Short Biography
Smruti A. Parab is an accomplished Assistant Transportation Researcher at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute's Mobility Analysis Program. She excels in providing invaluable data collection, data visualization, and planning support to state and government agencies, with a primary focus on freight planning research. Ms. Parab has a strong background in data visualization, having successfully developed web-based interactive tools using Tableau software for critical datasets such as FAF and VIUS. She is currently spearheading the development of a dynamic dashboard on Tableau that integrates live survey data from Qualtrics to provide real-time task status and updates. Furthermore, Ms. Parab's coding expertise in Python played a pivotal role in the creation of the Maryland Truck Parking Widget Tool, enabling the efficient sorting of statewide truck parking data by year for seamless visualization in GIS software.
Prior to her tenure at TTI, Smruti contributed significantly to planning efforts in Ascension Parish, where she adeptly identified funding opportunities for future projects and utilized GIS to illustrate planning prospects, culminating in polished reports crafted with Adobe InDesign. During her time at Texas Target Communities, she played an integral role in long-range comprehensive planning for municipalities like Rockport, Hitchcock, and Willacy County. Her responsibilities included conducting data analysis, projecting future growth through GIS, and developing communication materials for public meetings. Her adeptness at facilitating stakeholder interviews further underscores her commitment to successful planning initiatives. With a proven track record of excellence in transportation research and planning support, Ms. Parab continues to make valuable contributions to her field.
