Short Biography
Emily Martin is an Assistant Research Scientist and Manager of the Road User Safety program at Texas A&M Transportation Institute. Emily uses data and stakeholder input to understand road safety issues and identify ways to reduce risky situations and behaviors and increase the likelihood of individuals adopting safe practices. This work has led to the development of the Employer Driver Safety Innovation initiative, which works with organizations to integrate safety into daily driving operations through customized, theory-driven safety curriculum and program development designed to specifically assess and meet the safety and financial needs of the organizations.
Emily's research skills include curriculum development and implementation, evaluating programs and interventions, strategic outreach efforts, Texas crash data analysis, and multi-site, long term data collection and management. She has particular interest in designing data collection systems that mitigate participant response burden, integrating Public Health approaches and theories into transportation research and outreach, and clear and innovative storytelling through data visualizations and reports. Emily has a BS in Health and MS in Health Education from Texas A&M University.
