Abstract:

This MIP report focuses on capturing innovations (practices, methods, techniques, and technology not typical to TxDOT projects) in mobility (i.e., reliable movement of traffic through construction limits) and traffic operations that have significant value for Texas' future metropolitan mobility projects. It provides the public-private partnerships (PPPs or 3Ps), TxDOT, and interested shareholders with an up-to-date assessment of the emerging construction, traffic management, and operational innovations being used to implement roadway capacity improvement projects. The report highlights the innovative construction and mobility practices within the limits of 3Ps as they complete reconstruction and widening projects within a relatively short timeframe (in most cases, within four to five years). It focused on two 3P projects in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
