Abstract
A general equation is derived which expresses the modulus of elasticity of concrete or mortar in terms of an empirical constant, the elastic moduli of the cement matrix and aggregate constituents, and the mix proportions. Laboratory tests showed the equation to produce good results over a wide range of variables. The average deviation was found to be written ±10 percent, and the maximum deviation was within ±35 percent.|The variety of aggregate materials used included steel punchings, crushed glass, lead drops, Ottawa sand, crushed limestone, and a calcareous-siliceous river gravel.
