Abstract
The ability of a motorist to use the increasingly complex roadway system of today most satisfactorily, is heavily dependent upon roadway signing. Roadway designers realize that one of the first elements to be considered in designing a roadway is its ability to be adequately signed. Therefore, signing has now a definite place in the design stage of our roadway systems. The relationship between road lighting and signing is inadequately understood. This study explores this relationship for one type of sign material which can be used in roadside lighting.
