WTS Scholarship Awarded to TTI’s Safe-D Graduate Student

April 4, 2018

TTI Graduate Research Assistant Sirajum (Silvy) Munira
TTI’s Sirajum Munira is awarded a WTS scholarship.

TTI Graduate Research Assistant Sirajum (Silvy) Munira is the recipient of a $7,000 scholarship from the Houston Chapter of the Woman’s Transportation Seminar (WTS). The Helene M. Overly scholarship was awarded at the WTS Gala in Houston in March. It’s a competitive scholarship awarded to women pursuing graduate studies in the transportation field. WTS is an international organization dedicated to the professional advancement of women in transportation.

Munira is a Ph.D. student and has worked on multiple TTI research projects, including studies funded by the Safe-D University Transportation Center.

“I’m not surprised that Silvy was awarded this scholarship,” says TTI Associate Research Scientist Ipek Sener. “I’m her advisor at TTI, and we are currently working on a SAFE-D project. She is very respectful and personable and an excellent worker. I consider her a colleague.” Coincidentally, Sener was the recipient of the same scholarship back in 2009 when she was a Ph.D. student.
