U.S. Map identifying hours spent in traffic/annual cost per commuter: Seattle, 78 hours/$1,541; San Francisco, 103 hours/$2,619; Los Angeles, 119 hours/$2,676; Denver, 61 hours/$1,163; Houston, 75 hours/$1,508; Chicago, 73 hours/$1,431; Atlanta, 77 hours/$1,653; Miami, 69 hours/$1,412; Washington, D.C., 102 hours/$2,015; and New York, 92 hours/$1,947. Also, $1,080 average annual cost of congestion (per commuter); 3.3 billion gallons of fuel wasted on congestion; and $179 billion cost of time and fuel lost to traffic congestion, 2017.
