Inertial profilers to be used for ride quality assurance testing on TxDOT projects are certified under TxDOT Test Method Tex-1001-S. Use the Texas List of Districts and Counties to enter the district and county numbers in the PRO data file. TxDOT maintains an approved list of inertial profilers certified according to this test method. The following TxDOT ride specifications stipulate use of inertial profilers on this approved list:
- TxDOT’s Item 585 – Ride Quality for Pavement Surfaces
- Flexible Base Ride Specification in Item 247 of the 2014 TxDOT Standards
- Special Specification 3012 – Next Generation Concrete Surface (NGCS) Grinding
Alternatively, an inertial profiler may be tested in accordance with AASHTO R 56 at the owner’s discretion. Please specify the method of testing when scheduling.
